Preliminary Ecological Appraisals

Oatlands Ecology can carry out Preliminary Ecological Appraisals (PEA) throughout the year ensuring ecological issues are considered at the outset of a project, avoiding unexpected and potentially costly delays later.

The PEA includes a desk study forms the basis of any future Ecological Assessment.

A Preliminary Ecological Appraisal report will:

• Map each habitat, listing dominant and notable species
• Identify all ecologically sensitive features
• State whether these features are likely to be impacted
• Assess whether the site is likely to support protected or otherwise notable species
• Determine whether Controlled Species (e.g. Japanese knotweed / giant hogweed) are present
• State whether further ecological surveys will be required
• Recommend measures to offset ecological impacts
