Protected species survey licences
Protected species survey licenses are issued by statutory Agencies, e.g. Natural England, to ecologists who have demonstrated they possess both the experience and necessary skills to survey for protected species.
They are a pre-requisite for surveys required as part of many Ecological Assessments and nearly all Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) which often require protected species surveys and many local planning authorities insist that bat surveys are only carried out by licensed bat surveyors.
EPS Mitigation Licences
If a development is to affect a European Protected Species it is likily to require an EPS “Mitigation” License to allow the project to proceed whilst remaining within the law.
